Hi friends! Welcome to the Raise Your Voice Studios' blog post. These blog will mostly be to discuss quick tips and vocal tidbits. It's my hope that, even if I'm not your teacher, you can still learn something here. To start the blog posts off, we're going to go over some quick tips for maintaining vocal health.

1. Cut back on the coffee!

Coffee is very acidic and can harm your vocal folds. Coffee can also intensify acid reflux which can be really bad for your vocal folds.

2. Citrus = mucus

Citric acid can alter the pH balance in your throat and cause your throat to produce mucus to compensate. However! If you have a cold or a lot of mucus, the citric acid will break it up very nicely.

3. Honey is your friend

Honey is a natural lubricant for your voice, so tea with honey, or hot water with honey will really help a dry throat.

4. Wear a scarf!

When it's really cold, it's important to keep your larynx warm! The cold air isn't good for your voice. So, wrap it in a scarf.

5. Try not to eat right before you sing.

Because of the way your breathing mechanism works, if your stomach is full, that can really get in the way of a nice full breath.

That's all for today. Thank you so much for reading, and stay healthy so you can keep raising your voice.
